MBP: 031 Maintaining Brand Identity Through Brand Marketing with Ed Harris
Ed Harris is the Chief Marketing Officer of the Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board and a University Adjunct Professor at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. His interest in marketing started when he was deciding what to pursue in college. Growing up, he says he’s always been interested in the arts, but also wanted to dabble into business as no one in his family wanted to have a business major. Instead of pursuing one and leaving the other, he looked for a profession that combined both. He was undecided until he took a course in Principles of Marketing. He enjoyed the course so much he decided then and there that he wanted to have a career in marketing.
It’s been 16 years since Ed earned his degree. He has since worked for plenty of popular brands like Under Armour, Converse, and Timberland. Despite his vast experience, one of his proudest achievements will always be when he became a professor in the same university he graduated from, teaching the same course to students who want a career in marketing and business.
Today, Ed talks about brand marketing and what it means to maintain brand identity. He also shares his experience with some of the companies he has worked with and the strategies he used to improve their brand marketing.
